Giles Goodland

Giles GoodlandGiles Goodland has written several books of poetry, among them Littoral (Oversteps, 1996), A Spy in the House of Years (Leviathan, 2001) and Capital (Salt, 2006). He lives in London and works on a dictionary.

A week of solitude now.
In the way that several day’s rain
reveals old streamcourses
in drained fields, a groundwater
wells upwards as if
her substance had always
been tabled inches below the turf.

Recent news

  • Giles Goodland, whose book, Littoral, was published by Oversteps, will be featured with other visual poets at an exhibition of Visual Poetics at the Poetry Library, RFH, from 12th February to 14th March.

  • Oversteps poets continue to win prizes. The last few weeks have seen several successes: in the National Poetry Competition, both Giles Goodland and Caroline Carver were commended; Elisabeth Rowe has been shortlisted for the Strokestown prize; Alwyn Marriage was Highly Commended in the Mirehouse competition at Words by the Water; and Christopher North has won the Mayor’s Competition in Enfield. Congratulations to all of them.
